editor's letter

Sometimes inspiration hits you on a plane ride home from Australia. Lucia began to form 30,000 feet over the Pacific. I was contemplating the women I’d met, the smallness of our world and the disappearing Great Barrier Reef. Humanity’s struggle to survive our ambition felt heartbreakingly clear. So did this: These times call for light and a higher intelligence than brain. We need more heart.

I’m watching my one-year-old niece discover who she is. She sees videos of herself and tries to give the iPhone a hug. She speaks the language of her animals and it utterly astounds. When her mother picked a daffodil she thought it was absurd and tried to put it back. So there is hope.

I think it is time for a magazine that gives voice to the heart.

Our first issue is all about inspiration which, as far as I can tell, moves through us like a big game of telephone. It’s our job to pass it on.

Lucia’s brilliant contributors inspire me. They write with eye-opening honesty about what it means to be human, present, creative and vulnerable.

If you like what you see, please get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.
