Daily Notes, From the Editor
(146 words)
The pressure change woke my head this morning with a tender throb. Yesterday was bright and sunshine blue, but overnight gray returned. Snowflakes are in the forecast.
The primroses my mother put in my Jeep as a last-minute parting gift on Sunday afternoon are the most colorful things in the outside world. Everything else seems muddy, muted, messy and either brown or leftover-green from last summer.
I know there is brilliance in this day, it is just a bit hard to see without coffee. So I take a full breath, remind my throbbing lower brain, “This is just change,” and walk ever so slowly to the coffee shop.
Along the way I listen. The sounds of cars whooshing to work is a melody, broken beautifully by a small bird practicing her soprano solo. Then, silence. Only my own breath for a moment.
It is still February.
